THORNHILL PORTABLE SUCTION SAMPLER
Summary
Petrol driven portable suction sampler similar to the Univac but
with increased suction tube area up to 18 inches. Designed for
effective sampling in crops, grasslands, scrublands, etc. It
incorporates the advantages of electronic ignition, protected
silencer. Back pack mounted.

Product Details
The 'Thornhill' suction sampler has been used by researchers
for many years to sweep arthropods from grassland and monitor
both pest and beneficial insect populations in a variety of situations
including agricultural and amenity grassland and scrubland. The
Burkard Scientific sampler is similar to the model produced by
'Thornhill'.
Power Unit
The 'Back pack' suction unit is powered by the efficient Kawasaki
two stroke engine driving a high speed centrifugal fan. The Engine
which is directly coupled to the fan is mounted in the horizontal
plane.
Sampling Components
The sampling hoods are supplied in two parts, the lower half
offered in different lengths for sampling crops of varying height.
The sampler is equipped with two sampling nets, each having a
cloth support ring which clamps between the faces of the fixed
and detachable parts of the hood. The two halves of the hood
are held together by an expandable cord, making sampling net
replacement a quick and simple operation in the field.
Operating Comfort
Ultimate operator comfort and safety is provided by flexible
mounting onto a rucksack frame and a padded waist strap to secure
the unit in the back pack position. This sampler offers users
the opportunity to efficiently sample and monitor both pest and
beneficial insect populations in many different situations. These
include agricultural crops, amenity grassland and scrubland in
a wide variety of climates.
