The AMD2000 is an automatic in-line dilutor and sample preparation unit. This has been designed for use with Burkard Scientific’s range of segmented flow and flow injection analysers and can operate as a stand alone unit or under computer control as part of a larger system.
The S140 spiral table autosampler has either keyboard entry programming with liquid crystal display or full computer control. With a range of table capacities up to 140 samples can be processed. FIA interface and integrated wash reservoir are some features offered. The sampler has a battery backed memory. Optional random access function.
The autosampler 80+ has either keyboard entry programming with liquid crystal display or full computer control. With a range of table capacities up to 100 samples can be processed. FIA interface, dual probe and optional integrated wash reservoir are some features offered. The sampler has a battery backed memory. Optional random access function.
For high work loads the SERIES 2000 XYZ autosampler increases unattended sample throughput. Capacities up to 300 samples from 2ml cups to 15ml tubes can be accommodated in a range of sample racks. Full computer control and a dilution capability are offered.
Burkard manufacture three models of peristaltic pump for continuous segmented flow analysis: 15, 30 and 45 channels. These precision pumps are fixed speed and have detachable pressure platens for easy tube replacement. A standby mode is included for non-analysing periods to save valuable reagents. A pressure release and tensioning mechanism helps to increase tube life.
Chemistry modules are single or multi-channel and can accept up to 3 heating baths and a UV digestor. Manifolds are interchangeable and cooling fans are fitted for 37°C baths when high temp baths are adjacent. Spillage and overflow drains avoid seepage of liquids to electrical controls. A see-through protective cover prevents damage to manifold glassware.
Series 2000 colorimeters are high performance instruments. Excellent detection at low concentration is possible with flow cells of up to 50mm path length. A full range of high quality filters from 340nm to 880nm are stocked. Signal damping, sensitivity control and zeroing make for simple and reliable operation. 1 to 6 channel instruments cover the range of Burkard flow analysers. Visible and UV models are available.
On-line digestion is offered as a single manifold or part of a multichannel analyser. This compact design has a sample residence time approximately 50% of competitive digestors. When applied to Total Nitrogen or Total Phosphate it combines more intense UV radiation with heating at 90°C and yields recoveries of 95%. Digital temperature control is standard.

The Series 2000 Cold Light Fluorescence Detector CLF1 & CLF2 uses flow through sampling and results are outputted to the Microstream data processor via an analogue output socket. The fluorimeters are fixed wavelength instruments using a high brightness excitation source and emition cutoff filters. The detection limit for quinine sultphate is 0.1ppb. 32 Fluorescence methods for automatic analysis have been developed and one particularly for low level Aluminium in clinical determination. New manual methods can be adapted.
Models PFP7 and PFP7/C are low temperature, single channel Flame Photometers, designed for the routine determinations of Sodium (Na), and Potassium (K). Additional filters are available for the measurement of Lithium (Li), Barium (Ba) and Calcium (Ca). Both instruments are fitted with automatic flame failure detection for user safety, making them ideal for use in clinical, industrial and educational applications.
For the measurement of trace metals such as lead, cadmium, chromium, zinc, etc., atomic absorption spectrophotometry is fast and accurate. Measures to ppb levels.

These valves are used for automatic change-over of wash/reagent in Burkard multi-channel analysis systems. They avoid complications and save time when changing many reagent supply tubes to a wash cycle. Daily change over of tubes by hand can lead to errors. The manual and motorised versions of the change over valve are supplied as 4, 8 or 12 channel versions. One permanent wash feed connection supplies wash for all tubes on change-over. The motorised versions can also be under computer control.
The free-standing flow injection valve is self contained with an integral sensitive control circuit. It is particularly useful for individual laboratory built flow injection analysers with manual injection. The valve requires only 12VDC to operate and an external switch. Fill and inject modes are indicated by green and red 'LED' indicators. A mounting Boss enables fitting to a laboratory retort stand. Variable loop volumes are available.
This portable programmable timer unit is available for the Selective Ion and Flow Injection analysers when no autosampler is installed. Time setting is in hours/mins/secs format with 6 modes of operation. A pencil hand switch is supplied for starting the time cycle. For security reasons programming is only permitted with the internal batteries, i.e. with no mains supply to the timer.
This advanced, cost effective column carousel is fast, versatile, specific and simple to operate. Linked to a Burkard autoanalyser it provides continuous sequential analysis for HPLC, GLC or TLC. Fractionation, sample preparation, automation of diagnostic kits in bio-chemistry or continuous production of bulk quantities of pure compounds are a few applications. The carousel has 12 identical columns. A high analysis rate is achieved by performing chromatography in all 12 columns of reusable packing material at the same time. Columns have Luer fittings and are easily replaceable. Regeneration of the column material in situ increases column life.
